Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist
The lay
faithful distributors are called
extraordinary ministers. They function only
when recommended by their pastors and
are commissioned by the bishop. When we
place the Body or Blood into the
outstretched hands of our assemblies, we
invite them to receive the Body and Blood of
Christ. Our love for the Eucharist should
be evident in a mature and lively faith. It
is vital to understand that this is a
Ministry.
Responsibilities of the Eucharistic Minister

Learn the
specifics of the liturgical space such
as the names and location of the sacred
vessels and cloths used during the
distribution of Communion.

Learning
how and when reserved hosts are taken to
or from the Tabernacle.
