Health Ministry

Phyllis McKendall, R.N.
Parish Nurse

The Health Ministry is a service offered in the parish that is a witness to Christís healing power in His church. It focuses on wellness promotion, health education, information, referrals and personal health counseling.

The Health Ministry Council meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 7PM with the exception of June, July and August. If you have been in any aspect of health care please call the Parish Nurse and come join us.

The Parish Nurse carries out the planned activities with the assistance of other health care providers in the parish. Blood pressure screening is offered on the last Wednesday of the month after the Anointing Mass at 8:30AM until finished. Also blood sugar screenings are available.

The Parish nurse also visits our parishioners in the hospital. Due to HIPPA regulations, permission may be needed to make a visit. With permission from the patient, the Parish Nurse will put the patient on the Prayer Tree (which is a group of devoted parishioners who pray for the needs of others). Registered parishioners may also request that families and friends be added to this list. The Prayer Tree ensures that they receive prayers in their time of need.

Programs of Health and Wellness are presented at various times throughout the year. Lunch & Learns, Flu vaccine clinic and Life Line Screening are a few examples.
